The 社会工作 curriculum integrates the challenges of, 和机会, 解决贫困, 压迫, human diversity and social and economic justice.

Social work recognizes the importance of human relationships for individual development and healthy communities. Social workers are trained to empower individuals and 家庭 as they strive to enrich their lives, reach their potential and attain their goals. The 社会工作 Program also encourages students to develop knowledge and 技能 in advocacy, 政策发展, 协作, 共同掌权, 和网络.

The 社会工作 Program offers pre-professional introductory courses for the freshman and sophomore years. Junior and senior years are spent completing advanced professional coursework and end with an agency-based field practicum. The curriculum is designed to prepare students to work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, 心理健康机构, 政府机构, 学校, 非营利组织.

CSC offers excellent transfer opportunities from 社区 colleges in the region. The 社会工作 Program is available for distant sites students through a combination of interactive television, 在线讨论区, and on-campus attendance (one day per week during the final year prior to Field Practicum). Distance education is a commitment of the 社会工作 Program because we are dedicated to the development of professional social workers throughout the region.

The Bachelor of Arts in 社会工作 at Chadron State College provides an undergraduate experience that fosters student development of practice behaviors, and competencies including the knowledge, 技能, and values in order to function as generalist 社会工作ers. The acquired competencies prepare social workers who demonstrate practice abilities that enhance the capacities and quality of life for individuals, 家庭, 组, 组织, and communities within the region of western Nebraska, 南达科他州西南部, 怀俄明州东南部, 和科罗拉多州东北部.

In order to carry out the 社会工作 Program’s Mission of Chadron State College, the 社会工作 faculty strive for excellence in teaching, 奖学金, 和服务. 社会工作 faculty teach foundation curriculum with a sensitivity to student needs and with an awareness of the requisite practice behaviors and values appropriate to a competent social work practice at a baccalaureate level. 维持学生的学习, 社会工作 faculty use innovative technology, experiential and active learning approaches, and outcome-based learning that individualize curriculum and instruction to the needs of individual learners.

社会工作 faculty continually evaluate courses through student process evaluations, course evaluations of teaching and objective attainment, 教学同行评议, 书面作业的评估, and tests of student learning and evaluation of student demonstration of competencies through practice behaviors identified by the Council on 社会工作 Education. 社会工作 faculty seek to integrate 奖学金 with student learning through presentations at regional and national conferences, 特殊项目, 以及社区咨询. 社会工作 faculty provide service to the College, 社区, and professional associations by serving on local and regional boards and committees and participating in projects with local human service systems.

Chadron State College is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Nebraska State Department of Education. The Baccalaureate 社会工作 Program has been accredited by the Council on 社会工作 Education (CSWE) since 1992. In 2014, the 社会工作 Program received reaffirmation of accreditation by CSWE for the next 8-year cycle through October 2022. The CSWE 认证 process provides an agreed standard for 社会工作 Education at the national level. It assures students that the education they receive at an accredited BSW program is equivalent to that of other 学校 in the nation. It is important for admission into graduate programs in 社会工作, and for state licensing as a professional 社会工作er.
